　　中秋节的由来，与唐玄宗游月宫的浪漫传说息息相关：相传某年八月十五之夜，唐玄宗在宫中祭月时随侍道人作法，将手中拐杖化作空中银桥后，步入月宫。但见门楼匾额上书“广寒清虚之府”，门口的高大桂树下白兔正在捣药，宫内嫦娥诸仙女在悠扬的乐曲伴奏下，翩翩起舞。玄宗从月宫归来后，命人整理出暗自记下的舞曲，命名为《霓裳羽衣曲》。月宫之所以称“广寒宫”，也与此传说有关。

　　赏月之余，品尝月饼逐渐成为中秋节的一个民俗符号。月饼最初起源于唐朝，为军队的祝捷食品。唐高祖年间，大将军李靖征讨匈奴得胜，八月十五凯旋而归。当时有经商的吐鲁番人向唐朝皇帝献饼祝捷。高祖李渊接过华丽的饼盒，拿出圆饼，笑指空中明月说：“应将胡饼邀蟾蜍。”说完把饼分给群臣一起品尝，从此就有了中秋吃饼食的习俗。当时的大户人家一般都会在中秋节摆设大香案拜月，圆饼、西瓜、苹果、葡萄等供品一应俱全，其中圆饼和西瓜是绝对不能少的，考究的人家，西瓜还要特意切成莲花状供奉。
